This paper has proposed to reflect on the role of the multidisciplinary team in the student monitoring process in the context of Distance Education. Faced with the specificities of Distance Education, many students have ended up facing strangeness and difficulties in their course, often leading them to dropping out of courses, which has raised the need for a multidisciplinary team to act to face such evasion. Therefore, this paper has been based on the methodological approaches of qualitative research, of an exploratory nature and under a reflexive bias, taking as a promotion to the validation of the reflective discourse, a work model systematized by a multidisciplinary team in an institution of the federal public network of technical and technological education which has worked with distance education in the State of Rio Grande do Norte; it has concluded that the student follow-up process in Distance Education has presented peculiar challenges, however the application of appropriate strategies can be effective in overcoming such barriers. A constant communication, the use of appropriate and accessible technologies, the offer of appropriate individualized support and the promotion of a collaborative and adjusted work have been fundamental aspects for the success of the assistance offered to students in the distance modality, with a view to guaranteeing their access, permanence, and academic success.
