ASSEMBLING THE TRIPOD
REFLECTIONS ON THE CURRICULARIZATION OF EXTENSION IN ON-CLASS AND DISTANCE COURSES

This article promotes reflection and questioning about university extension in Brazilian education. The subject acquires importance at a time when higher education institutions implement university extension in their educational projects. Thus, a documentary research, based on current and relevant legislation, was complemented by bibliographical research, in search of recent records of experiences where university extension is included in the course curriculum. Considering that the definition of university extension is a component of a tripod that brings the benefits of teaching and research to society, the article highlights that the balance of this tripod seems fragile and is permanently under construction. Considering that the literature on the implementation of university extension in course curricula is recent, it also highlights extension strategies in operation in computing courses. It questions the need established by legislation for the universitary extension of distance courses to be carried out in person, promotes reflections on the need to consider the student's conditions and, also, to guarantee the advances obtained with the use of digital network technologies for the benefit of the student itself. distance education. In the end, it points out the need to integrate higher education institutions as Communities of Practice, as a way of guaranteeing training, interaction, and knowledge on the topic.
