QUALITY IN DISTANCE EDUCATION

A STUDY ON CONCEPTUAL CONJECTURES

Abstract

This article has the general objective of analyzing the concept of quality in Distance Education present in national publications, basing the foundations of knowledge of what quality is in EaD. This study started in the Institutional Program of Scholarships for Scientific Initiation (PIBIC) funded by the Araucária Foundation entitled “State of knowledge: The conception of Quality in EaD in the Brazilian Journal of Open and Distance Learning (RBAAD)”, brought into question which conjectures they support the understanding of what quality is in distance education, allowing the elaboration of this bibliographical and documental text that based the reflections of the research referenced by the authors: Dourado; Oliveira; Santos (Org. 2007), Lima and Alonso (2019), Martins and Costa (2023), Oliveira (2020) and Resende (2018), and in the document Quality References for Higher Distance Education (2007). The time frame defined from 2007 to 2022 is justified by the date of publication of the Quality References for Higher Distance Education, a political document that infers about the quality of EaD from the date of its publication to the present. The research concludes the need for a guiding document of socially referenced quality and contributes as a production device for discussions about quality education in our country.

Dayane Horwat Imbriani de Oliveira, Universidade Estadual de Maringá

Doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Education (PPE) at the State University of Maringá (UEM), in the line of research in Teaching, Learning and Human Development. Master in Education by the Graduate Program in Education (PPE) at the State University of Maringá (UEM), in the line of research in Education Policies and Management (2020). Specialist in History, Art and Culture from the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG, 2018) and Teaching Methodologies and Techniques from the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), (2015). Graduated in Literature - Portuguese/English from Faculdade Global de Umuarama (FGU, 2013) and Degree in Pedagogy from the State University of Maringá (UEM, 2020). She is currently Educational Coordinator of Educational Technologies at the Municipality of Umuarama and Professor of Higher Education at Faculdade ALFA Umuarama - UniALFA. Member and researcher of the Research Group on Distance Education and Educational Technologies (GPEaDTEC) - registered with CNPq.

Maria Luisa Furlan Costa, Universidade Estadual de Maringá

Associate Professor at the Department of Fundamentals of Education and at the Graduate Program in Education at the State University of Maringá (UEM). PhD in Education from the Júlio de Mesquita Filho University (Unesp/Araraquara), Master in Education from the State University of Maringá (UEM) and Degree in History from the State University of Maringá. He is currently Chief of Staff of the Rectory of the State University of Maringá (UEM).
