Abstract

The text presents the trajectory of the Distance Education Center of Unicentro which, in 2023, completed 18 years of history. Thus, it is built through documentary research in official acts of the Higher Education institution, as well as in other publications about the projects, also using data regarding the impact of Unicentro on the training of people from different regions of the State through public, free and quality higher education. The objective is to recover important moments, such as the establishment and training of multidisciplinary teams, the creation of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Distance Education (EaD) modality, the holding of awareness-raising events and the dissemination of research, the articulation of projects extension agents, participation in state and federal programs, the development of personalized platforms and the proposition of active methodologies, the establishment of public institutional partnerships and other aspects that pervade distance education. It is considered that articulated management is relevant for the process of institutionalization of the modality.
