THE POLICY OF CONNECTIVITY IN INDIGENOUS VILLAGES IN A FEDERAL PUBLIC UNIVERSITY
Keywords:
Connectivity, Indigenous villages, University educationAbstract
Connectivity in indigenous villages is a challenge, mainly due to the remote location of these communities, the lack of telecommunications infrastructure and linguistic and cultural barriers. However, in recent years, several efforts have been made to improve connectivity in these areas and reduce the so-called digital gap between indigenous peoples and society. In relation to Higher Education, the Connected Students project, supported and managed by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and conducted by the National Education and Research Network (RPN) focuses on the installation of basic infrastructure, such as communication towers and antennas, to bring connectivity to these areas. The use of technologies such as satellites and mobile networks are also explored. One of the main advantages of connectivity in indigenous villages is access to educational resources. The internet is a pathway to learning materials, online courses and research resources that can improve the quality of education in these indigenous communities and the exchange of knowledge and experiences between them. It is essential that policies and initiatives related to the connectivity of original peoples in Higher Education take into account the specific needs of each village, in order to promote Education and strengthen their development.
